Anti Gay Marriage Amendment Goes Down in Defeat at Constitutional Convention:

Dorchester Legislative Delegation Solidly Behind Gay Marriage

Following the vote at the Constitutional Convention, shooting down the amendment to the Constitution to Ban Gay Marriage in Massachusetts, DotOUT called Senator Hart's office and asked how he voted. He voted no. We prompted his office for a quote for our press release about the vote, asking specifically whether his no vote would apply to the next proposed amendment.

Senator Hart said through his Chief of Staff “I entered public service to improve people’s lives. Today I voted “no” and I will vote “no” on any future amendments.”

This is a significant victory; the Dorchester legislative delegation - Senator Hart, Representative Forry, Representative St. Fleur, and Representative Walsh are united with us in the fight for equality.

Thanks to all of you who called, wrote, signed our letter and worked to achieve this victory for civil marriage. We urge you to call or write to Senator Hart thanking him for his courage and leadership on this matter. His number is 617.722.1150 and his email is John.Hart@state.ma.us
