Dorchester's gay and lesbian political advocacy group, DotOUT, endorsed candidate Linda Dorcena Forry in the race to fill the 12th Suffolk District House of Representatives Seat in Massachusetts recently vacated by Thomas Finneran.

Nearly fifty lesbian and gay voters crowded into the function room of the Harp and Bard restaurant on Dorchester Avenue, in Dorchester (Boston) on Monday, Jan. 10, to hear the candidates and to vote on the endorsement.

All five declared candidates attended.  Emmanuel Bellegarde, Linda Dorcena Forry, and Stacey Monahan all stated unequivocal support for gay marriage, a woman's right to choose, and pledged, that if elected, they would vote to restore funding to AIDS service organizations, and to oppose amending the, constitution to limit the right to marry.

Candidates Eric Donovan and Kerby Roberson both stated a preference to let the right to marry be put to the people for a vote.

This is the first time DotOUT, formed in June of 2004, has held a formal endorsement process.
