(Five other members are entering the second year of their term: Mark Haley, Justin Holmes, Stephanie Moura, Christopher McCoy, and Richard O'Mara.) The following individuals have submitted statements to be considered for election:

Dianne Curtin (current Steering Committee member and Vice-Chair)

I am happy to call Dorchester (Ashmont-Adams neighborhood) my home! Since moving to Dorchester in 2002, my partner and I have felt lucky to be part of a such a diverse and welcoming neighborhood and community. It was and is the desire to live in a place where all are welcome that led me to become part of DotOUT.

As a Steering Committee member, I have helped to plan and run activities and events that have brought together people for a variety of purposes including politics, fundraising for local non-profit groups, building awareness of the GLBT community in Dorchester, and just plain fun. Regardless of the purpose of a particular DotOUT event, I have found that it is the strengthening of a sense of community that keeps me involved and drives me to seek re-election to the steering committee.

In my professional life, I work to better the lives of young children and their families who live in poverty. It is rewarding work and has provided me with many skills that come in handy on the Steering Committee. However, my work is not in my neighborhood or even close. So, DotOUT gives me the place to affect change near home and the opportunity to grow my community of friends and neighbors.

Matthew Duffy (new candidate)

Matthew T. Duffy III resides in Jones Hill where he is a member of several civic organizations in the Boston area and has been a member for several years of the steering committee for Fenway Community Health.

He has been a member of the Massachusetts bar since 1992 and is with Duffy Law Group in Everett, Massachusetts. A general practice firm, Matthew’s primary area of practice is criminal defense, real estate transactions and domestic relations. A Suffolk Law graduate, he has been a frequent lecturer in continuing legal education for the Massachusetts Bar Association on Abuse Prevention Orders under G.L. 209A. Additionally, he has authored and published several articles on the subject of 209A Orders. He also aided in editing Mottla's Proof of Cases in Massachusetts.

He considers himself and excellent skier; however, that is open to debate.

Tony Gale (current Steering Committee member and Clerk)

I am a resident of Dorchester on Pleasant Street and have been for almost 5 years. I am happy to call Dorchester my home and enjoy working to make this vibrant, diverse neighborhood a better place to live.

I have many friends in Dorchester and have done some residential real estate development here. I moved to Dorchester from the South End recognizing the great potential of this great neighborhood. I have been involved in the Columbia-Savin Hill Civic Association. During my tenure with DotOUT I have been involved in organizing the first DotOUT tea dances as well as enjoying the our prescence in the Dorchester Day parade each year. I also maintain the DotOUT web site and if elected look forward to continue to serve on the DotOUT steering committee to help leverage the strength and diversity of the LGBT community in Dorchester in making a better neighborhood for the LGBT community and all residents.

I just ask, please don't make me sing.
