Thank you to everyone who helped make DotOUT’s 2nd Summer Solstice Tea Dance at dbar another great success!

We are thrilled that hundreds of friends and neighbors turned out – despite rain and Father’s Day commitments – for a great afternoon. Great raffle prizes were won, we danced, drank and were visited by Mayor Menino as well as mayoral hopefuls city councilors Michael Flaherty and Sam Yoon. Special thanks to the staff of dbar, to our generous sponsors and prize donors, to our tireless volunteers, and most of all, to DotOUT members and friends who attended.

With the proceeds from this event, we look forward to sponsoring two upcoming community events in Dorchester…

The Dorchester Beach Festival: Saturday, August 8 at Malibu Beach, and

DotOUT in the Dorchester Day Parade 2009
Sunday, June 7, 2009 12:00 noon • Dorchester Avenue

We dazzled last year with our fabulous beach-themed float, and this year’s “green-themed” entry was just as good if not better! We marched and drove up Dorchester Ave with a great turnout of DotOUT members and supporters. The crowds were great in each of Dorchesters neighborhoods. Afterwards, we had a great DotOUT post-parade party generously hosted by DotOUT member Richard O'Mara and his partner Robert at Cedar Grove Gardens.

Special thanks to the DotOUT member team who helped design and build this great float on Saturday.

Some event photos can be found here.

We handed out wildflower seeds attached to cards promoting our upcoming tea dance at dbar to encourage people to make Dorchester a greener and more inviting neighborhood. Information on the seed mix and planting instructions are here
